(May is Mental Health month)…The County Board of Supervisors adopted the proclamation Tuesday.
County Behavioral Health Services requested the action. The National Mental Health Association, the National Council of Community Behavioral Healthcare and their partners each year in May observe Mental Health Month to raise awareness of mental health, mental illness and insurance discrimination against people with mental illness. Locally, all citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, businesses and schools are encouraged to increase their awareness and understanding of mental illness and the need for appropriate and accessible services for all people with mental illness.
