It's a busy weekend in the Imperial Valley.
The DEA National Prescription Take-Back Day is Saturday. Unused or expired prescription drugs may be turned in , no questions asked , between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. There are four sites in the Imperial Valley , The U.S. Border Patrol El Centro Sector Headquarters on Aten Road in Imperial , The Vons Grocery Stores in El Centro and Brawley and the Food-4-Less store in Calexico. In Yuma , medications for disposal may be dropped off at the Yuma County Sheriff's Office Foothills substation.
Saturday is Spring Clean Up Day in Brawley. The event scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Brawley Airport. A great day to clean up around the house and yard and dispose of the junk.
Calexico is busy with an Earth Arbor Day celebration starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Kennedy Gardens Park. A health , safety , and environmental community fair will be held to engage and educate the community about the importance of eco-sustainability reforestation.
Heffernan Memorial Healthcare District and the Imperial Valley Cancer Support Center will host a seminar titled " Everything You Wanted To Know About Cancer ( but were afraid to ask ). from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at 601 Heber Avenue in Calexico. It's free.
The Saturday IV Kayak Club and Gallery will host a solo art show featuring Fernando Reza. The opening night will be part of downtown El Centro's " Fiesta on Fifth " Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
The Imperial Valley College Automotive Club will host a 1950's Sock Hop Fundraiser rom 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the IVC Gym. There will be dancing , food , root beer floats and old school fun. Also prizes for best dressed , best dancing and a pie eating contest.
