A week long multi-agency targeted operation in Arizona resulted in 143 arrests.
The operation conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol with local Stonegarden Law Enforcement Partners targeted human and drug smuggling. Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents and law enforcement partners arrested 143 people from 18 countries. During the week of August 10 - 14, 95 illegal alien truck drivers were arrested. They possessed state-issued commercial driver's licenses. Two human smuggling events were stopped with the arrest of four smugglers and 17 smuggled humans. Also, 74 pounds of methamphetamine and 160 pounds of marijuana were seized.
