(9-11 milestone to be recognized)...The Imperial Valley 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Committee will host the 13th annual Imperial Valley 9/11 Memorial and Stair Climb.

It will be held September 12. They will be commemorating the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001. The 25-year milestone makes this year memorial special. They say the 2026 event will feature special surprises, new elements, and more participation from local public safety agencies and the community. The event honors the 343 Firefighters; 60 law enforcement officers and thousands of innocent lives lost on 9/11/2001. It also recognizes the courage and sacrifice of first responders who continue to serve and protect our communities. Participants will climb the equivalent of 110 stories, representing the height of the World Trade Centers, while carrying the names and memories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. A memorial ceremony will also provide an opportunity to come together in remembrance and reflection. The theme this year is Remember 9/11, Live Like 9/12. The event is held at the Fairgrounds and will start at 6 pm.
