A car ran off Interstate 8 and overturned after rolling down a 40-foot embankment.

The accident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. Sunday on eastbound Interstate 8 west of Ocotillo. Two people, a woman and a juvenile, briefly trapped in the wreckage but were quickly extricated by U.S. Border Patrol agents. The woman reported injuries to her leg. and the passenger was not injured. Traffic was restricted to one lane while emergency crews worked at the scene. The eastbound freeway was completely shut down for about 30 minutes while the wreckage was retrieved. The accident remains undeyinvestigation.
