(Imperial County Sheriff's Office issues a Scam Alert)....The Sheriff's Office says it is a phone scam.

They say residents are receiving calls from someone who claims to be an employee from the Imperial County Sheriff's Office. they are calling residents with an incarcerated family member The scammers advise the residents to pay money for their loved one to be released to treatment programs.. The Sheriff's Office says don't give them any money and just hang-up the phone. They say the jail will never call requesting money for someone's release. If in doubt, call the Sheriff's office to verify.
