91-year-old jack Tyler, an Imperial Valley native, says he will match your donation to the Food Banks Weekend Backpack program, dollar for dollar. The Backpack program quietly provides backpacks filled with nutritious, kid-friendly foods, so children have something to eat through the weekend. According to Food Bank CEO Sarah Griffen, more than 1,600 students in the Imperial Valley are experiencing homelessness. Many live in households struggling with unemployment, rising food costs, or family hardships. For many of the kids, breakfast and lunch at school are their only reliable meals they'll receive all week. When Friday comes. School doors close and kids go hungry. According to Griffin, a $250 donation will provide weekend meals for 1 child for the entire school year. With jack Tylers matching dollars that means two kids will benefit from the program.
