The Imperial Irrigation District has set aside $40,000 for local water safety programs.
The money is part of the IID's Water Safety Campaign. The grants will will help local agencies keep public pools open. coordinate Splash Bash events, and provide free or discounted swim lessons during the summer. Grant recipients include the cities of Brawley, Calexico, Calipatria, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial and Westmorland. Other recipients include the County of Imperial, Heber Public Utility District, Imperial Valley Desert Museum and the Niland Chamber of Commerce.
