If you drink, don't drive.

The El Centro Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint on Sunday, June 21, 2026. The checkpoint will be located at Imperial and Holt in El Centro and be operational from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight. According to ECPD Sergeant Miguel Garrido, " Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. Any preventive measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety". DUI Checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. Drivers are reminded that impaired driving does not mean just alcohol. Some prescription medications over the counter drugs may also impair drivers. While medicinal and recreational marijuana may be legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
