El Centro Library Director Carla Mason has been elected chairperson of the Serra Cooperative Library System.

Mason previously served as vice chair of the organization. The Serra Cooperative Library System is one of nine library consortia established under the California Library Services Act. The system supports member libraries through resource sharing, collaborative services, professional development opportunities, and grant administration. Public libraries from Imperial and San Diego Counties are part of the Serra Cooperative Library System.
