The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident that occurred Sunday night.

According to the CHP, the accident was reported at about 8:20 p.m. on westbound Interstate 8 just west of Mt. Springs Road. Initial reports indicate a motorcycle went out of control and ran off the road. The motorcycle rider sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Traffic along the interstate was disrupted while first responders were on the scene.
