(CHP releases details for fatal collision)...The collision was reported early Wednesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol says at 5:13 Wednesday morning a 27 year old mle was driving an SUV northbound on Highway 86, North of Andre Road. A 51 year old male was driving a 2020 Peterbilt Tractor/Trailer combination, also Northbound on Highway 86. The Peterbilt was approaching the rear of the SUV. For reasons still under investigation, the front of the rig crashed into the rear of the SUV, As a result of the collision, the driver of the SUV succumbed to injuries suffered. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.. A 35 year old female passenger in the SUV suffered major injuries. The driver and passenger of the SUV were not wearing seatbelts. The Highway Patrol says the investigation is continuing.
