Caltrans District 11recently honored highway workers killed in the line of duty.

A memorial service was held at the Caltrans Maintenance Yard in El Centro. The solemn ceremony paid tribute to the fallen highway workers and reminded motorists to respect work zones by slowing down and being alert. The ceremony saw 195 orange cones to represent the workers who died while maintaining California's highway system. Among the names of fallen workers were 18 from District 11, which includes San Diego and Imperial Counties.
