The U.S. Army gives the U.S. Border Patrol some horses)...It was an Interagency Transfer.
The transfer will save the U.S. Border Patrol $105,000. The horses came from U.S. Army posts at Fort Irwin, California and Fort Huachuca, Arizona. The Border Patrol sent their people to thoroughly inspect the horses before accepting the animals. The horses went through initial training before being assigned to Border Patrol sectors across the Southwest, including El Centro, San Diego, Tucson, El Paso and Rio Grande.
