The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors approved a new cost-share grant opportunity.
The $7.5 million approved by the board will fund a new matching grant program to advance water and agricultural-related community projects across the district's service area. The program, Funding Local Opportunities for Water ( FLOW ) proposes establishing a 50 - 50 cost-share partnership with local government entities such as special districts, schools, cities, and Imperial County agencies within the water service area. According to the IID, the FLOW grant program would prioritize capital and infrastructure projects with longer-term public benefits. The program will be funded through a one-time $7.5 million Water Department budget amendment from non-water revenue.
