A Saturday afternoon fire caused the closure of State 98.

The two-alarm fire involved a previously burned structure in the area of State Route 98 and Clark Road. Imperial County Fire Department responded and soon issued a second alarm requesting mutual aid from other departments. The highway was closed for several hours while fire crews battled the blaze. The structure had extensive damage from a previous fire with significant damage from the Saturday fire.
