(Imperial Valley Chess Championship returns March 14th)....Students from across the Valley prepare for the state competition.

The 2nd Annual Imperial Valley Chess Championship will be held in the Heber School Gymnasium. It will run from 8 am to 4 pm. The event brings together students from across the Imperial Valley for a full day of competitive scholastic chess, sportsmanship and academic growth. Participants range from beginners playing in their first tournament to experienced competitors preparing for the California State Championship later in the month. The Heber School District is sponsoring the event by providing facilities, staff support, free food for participants and parents and trophies and prizes.
