A Garland, Texas, couple have pleaded guilty to conspiring to smuggle and sell unregistered pesticides and misbranded veterinary drugs.
Thoa Duong and her husband, Lam Mai, operated a website selling the drugs and pesticides. Previously, an Imperial Valley man was found guilty of bringing the pesticides and drugs through the Calexico Port of Entry, placing the contraband in storage units in Calexico and then shipping the products to Texas. Between 2018 and 2022, U.S. Department of Justice investigators said that approximately $2.4 million worth of smuggled merchandise passed through the scheme.
