The California Highway Patrol had a busy weekend with several accidents reported.
Early Saturday morning a vehicle traveling westbound on Interstate 8 near Coyote Wells ran off the highway and overturned before coming to rest well off the road. The driver said she was not injured.
An accident on Saturday afternoon closed Dogwood Road between Harris and Keystone for an extended period of time. A pick-up truck hauling a local food vendor's trailer rolled over. Minor injuries to the driver were reported and the wreckage cleanup took several hours.
At about 2;20 a.m. Sunday there was a report of a vehicle in the canal near Anza and Hammers Road in the Calexico area. The vehicle was fully submerged in the canal but the two occupants were able to escape the wreck. The Imperial County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was activated later Sunday morning to retrieve the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence.
All of the accidents remain under investigation.
