The City of Imperial hs filed an objection to action taken by the Imperil County Planning Commission.
The city took action in regards to the proposed Data Center lot merger. The objection calls for the applicant for the proposed lot merger for the planned development at Aten Boulevard and Dogwood Road to " further discuss the project with the City of Imperial, City of El Centro, and the community before bringing the item back to the Planning Commission for consideration". Following a mid-December meeting, the County reported the lot merger would be heard by the Board of Supervisors because of an appeal filed by the developer. The City of Imperial says this is a direct contradiction of the Planning Commission action. Earlier, the City of Imperial filed a lawsuit alleging the County has failed to comply with CEQA review requirements.
Imperial Mayor Ida Obeso-Martinez said, " Any plan of responsible economic development which excludes the very people we intend to benefit misses the mark. While litigation was an option of last resort, we nevertheless stand ready to meet with County, City of El Centro and stakeholders in an effort to arrive at a path forward".
