El Centro Sector U. S. Border Patrol agents arrested 49 illegal aliens with commercial driver's licenses over the past several weeks.

The arrested were made between November 23 and December 12 during traffic stops and at immigration checkpoints on Highway 86 and Highway 111. According to the Border Patrol, of those arrested, 30 were from India, two from El Salvador, and the others from China, Eritrea, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Russia, Somalia, Turkey and Ukraine. According to El Centro Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Joseph Remenar, " The individuals arrested should never have been operating these semi-trucks". The arrests are part of Operation Highway Sentinel that specifically targets commercial trucking companies in California.
