(Thanksgiving Week)...Many Schools take the entire week off.

The official Holiday however is a four day weekend. It starts Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, and continues Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Almost everything is closed Thursday. Most of the Stores reopen for Black Friday. Many Government offices and Federal institutions, such as banks, are closed Thursday and Friday. The California Highway Patrol goes into their Holiday Patrol period Wednesday evening at 6 pm. The Maximum Enforcement Period continues until 11:59 Sunday night. The Thanksgiving Holiday weekend has traditionally been the most popular Off-Road Holiday in the Imperial Sand Dune Recreation Area. Patrols will be increased in the dunes, as well.
