The 2025 Holiday Parade of Lights at NAF - El Centro has fallen victim to the government shutdown.

According to the Navy base, even though the the government reopened on November 13, the time available to coordinate the parade is not sufficient to ensure the high-quality event the Imperial Valley community has come to expect. The lengthy government shutdown, which triggered a lapse in appropriations, has affected community outreach programs, including the local parade.
