A man is dead following an officer involved shooting Sunday night.
According to an El Centro Police Department press release, El Centro police officers responded to the report of a stolen vehicle in the area of Dogwood and Main Streets at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was located in the parking lot of a business in the area. According to the press release, as officers attempted to contact the occupants of the vehicle, an officer-involved shooting occurred. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Imperial County District Attorney's Office has assumed responsibility for investigating the shooting. The California Attorney General's Office investigates all officer-involved shooting incidents. No other information was released.
