The Board is expected to declare the month of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Another proclamation will recognize September as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and September will also be recognized as National Recovery Month. The afternoon session begins at 1 pm, On the action agenda the Board will discuss a resolution declaring a State of Economic Emergency related to the Spreckles Sugar Plant Closure and impact to the Sugar Beet Industry in Imperial County. Public Works Director John Gay will discuss an agreement for services with advanced water treatment specialists. They will discuss a budget amendment, and, as the Board of Equalization, they will conduct what is anticipated to being a lengthy hearing. On the consent agenda, the supervisors are expected to donate $15,000 as a Platinum Sponsor of the Center of the Desert Evening of Hope Fundraiser on October 17th
