(Mexican Independence Day is right around the corner)....Independence Day in Mexico is September 16.

Calexico Recreation Department is celebrating early. The Recreation Department in collaboration with the Carmen Durazo Cultural Arts Center and the Mexican Consulate in Calexico will be celebrating Viva Mexico, commemorating Mexico's Independence Day on September 2nd. It will be at the Carmen Durazo Cultural Arts Center on Heffernan in Calexico. The event will feature a Poster Exhibit of Mexican Cinema, Folkloric dance, live music by Mariachi Aurora de Calexico, and an art exhibit by local artists. It is funded in part by the California Arts Council.
