The Imperial Irrigation District will bring back their popular Tree for All program.
This fall, the IID will plant 1,300 desert-adapted shade trees for residential customers. IID customers will be able to sign up during a dedicated enrollment period, after which trees will be allocated through a lottery system to ensure fairness. Since its inception in 2022, the program has steadily expanded: approximately 500 trees planted in the first year, about 1,000 in 2023, another 1,000 in 2024, and 1,300 projected for this year.
The sign-up period will open on August 25 and close at 5:00 p.m. on September 2.
IID Board Chairwoman Gina Dockstader said, " This is one of the most rewarding programs we offer. It's amazing to see how a single tree can transform a home and neighborhood, over time, how thousands of trees can transform communities".
