A Sunday afternoon traffic stop led to the discovery of nearly 2 pounds of methamphetamine.

At about 4:15 p.m. , while driving through the city of E Centro, an Imperial County Sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation. An El Centro Police Department K-9 unit was contacted and the dog alerted to the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of 1.96 pounds of methamphetamine in the center console. The driver was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sales, and Transportation of a Controlled Substance.
