(23-year-old memory to be honored)......Melissa Galvan, a Mexicali firefighter lost her life in a collision last week.

Galvan and two others were responding to an incident in Algodones, when the fire vehicle went out of control. Galvan suffered fatal injuries, and two others suffered serious injuries in the incident. The City of Mexicali has announced the fire station in the ejido Hermosillo will be renamed in her honor. The station is where Melissa Galvan first worked as a volunteer, and it is where her father and brother still work as firefighters. August 22nd is the Day of the Firefighters in Mexico. That is when the ceremony will be held to rename the Fire Station the Melissa Galvan Station.
