A Yuma man drowned Saturday afternoon after saving the lives of two juveniles.
According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO), they received a report of a possible drowning shortly after noon on Saturday. The initial information indicated that a group of people were at the Horseshoe Island sandbar when two juveniles were pulled from the shallows by the current. Jeffrey Brady, 51, of Yuma, swam out to the juveniles and kept them afloat until a vessel was able to respond and pull the youngsters out of the water Brady however, was struggling to stay afloat and was then seen slipping under the water. YCSO, Imperial County Sheriff's Office . Federal Fish and Wildlife Units, and Border PatrolAir and Marine Units responded to the scene to assist in the search for Brady. At about 7:20 p.m. Saturday, the man's body was located. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
