(Brawley Police Department has plans for Thursday)....They will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint.

The Checkpoint will open at 8 pm and continue until 12 midnight. It will be set-up in the 200 block of Main Street in Brawley. Police say DUI Checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving related crashes. The Department says the purpose of DUI Checkpoints are to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roadways. They are reminding the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol, some prescription medications and over the counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal. The program is provided through a grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program
