There will be a Driving Under the Influence checkpoint tonight, June 6.

The Imperil County Sheriff's Office will man the DUI checkpoint on State Route 111 between Schartz Road and Wildcat Road near Brawley. The checkpoint is a tool to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the roadways. The Sheriff's Office reminds you that impaired driving is not just from alcohol but some over-the-counter or prescription drugs may interfere with your driving ability. Medicinal or recreational marijuana may be legal but driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal. The checkpoint begins operation at 8:00 p.m.
