A Major Aquatic Restoration Project)....It is part of the Salton Sea Management Program.

It is currently filling with water. It is the largest expansion project at the Salton Sea. It is part of the Conservation Habitat Project. This month marks a major critical milestone. For the first time, water is flowing into the first pond, the East Pond of the project. It is receiving a mixture of Salton Sea water and New River water. Once the East Pond is full, probably at the end of the month, they will move on to the next pond. Together, the ponds will provide 2,000 acres of habitat restoration. A little over 3 square miles. That is considered an important milestone in the SSMP.
