The California Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday accident that resulted in multiple injuries.

According to the CHP, the accident occurred on Interstate 8 west of Dunaway Road. The collision involved a van transporting 18 passengers and a Chevrolet Malibu. The van overturned, resulting in multiple injuries. The driver of the Malibu fled the scene. The U.S. Border Patrol was able to locate the car's driver, hiding, about 3 miles from the scene of the accident. The driver was arrested and charged with Felony Driving Under the Influence and Felony Hit and Run. Multiple agencies responded to the accident scene to assist the injured. The accident remains under investigation.
