Volunteers installed 347 free smoke alarms last weekend.

The Sound the Alarm event last weekend involved volunteers and members of the American Red Cross and community partners saw the devices installed in Holtville homes. Volunteers and community partners including the Holtville Fire Department, Naval Air Facility El Centro, the Federal Fire Department and De Anza Search and Rescue participated in the event that helped make 102 homes safer. The Sound the Alarm campaign is part of a national program, Red Cross Home Fire Campaign.
