A 61-year-old woman died in a Saturday afternoon off-road accident.

The California Highway Patrol says the accident occurred in the Superstition Off Highway Recreational Area near Wheeler Road shortly after noon on Saturday. A 64-year-old man was driving a black Can Am UTV westbound when he collided with a tan Can Am UTV that was also westbound. Both vehicles overturned. The driver of the black UTV sustained major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. His 61-year-old woman passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tan UTV, a 26-year-old man, received minor injuries and was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center. His 29-year-old female passenger sustained major injuries and was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.
