(San Diego Sector Border Patrol seizes cocaine)...It happened late last week near Camp Pendleton.
Border Patrol agents stopped a vehicle traveling North on Interstate 5. After a brief interview with the driver of the vehicle, a canine unit was called in. The K-9 alerted to the trunk of the vehicle. Agents searched the trunk and found two white trash bags full of cellophane wrapped packages. The agents transported the vehicle, the driver and the packages to the nearest Border Patrol Station. The 19 packages were removed from the vehicle and tested. The packages tested positive for cocaine. The packages weighed 47.51 pounds. The cocaine had an estimated street value of over $800,000. The driver and a passenger were arrested, charged with narcotics smuggling. The Drug Enforcment Administration took posession of the cocaine. Border Patrol seized the vehicle.
