Congress declared the special awareness month in 2010. The idea is to stop dating abuse before it starts. This is done through advocacy and education. Leading the effort in Imperial County is Womanhaven. Organizations and schools nationwide organize efforts to raise awareness every February, creating a movement of passionate, informed individuals making a difference
