(Single vehicle collision Friday evening)...The California Highway Patrol says a 17 year old suffered fatal injuries.

The Calexico teen was driving a 2013 Yamaha Raptor quad. He was headed east on a dirt road paralleling the Central Main Canal east of Bowker Road. The CHP says for reasons still under investigation, the 17 year old drove the quad into the Briar Canal. As a result, the teen succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Highway Patrol says it appears the teen was not wearing a helmet. They say at this point in the investigation, it is not known whether impairment was a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
