(New Years Holiday gets underway Tuesday)....In some areas, the Holiday is Wednesday only.

The County is shutdown in all non-emergency departments and agencies New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. On the other hand, The Imperial Irrigation District offices are closed only on New Year's Day, Wednesday. New Years is a major drinking Holiday, so called because of all the parties. Law Enforcement go into increased patrols on New Year's Eve and remain in Holiday mode possibly into the weekend. The purpose of all Law Enforcement agencies is to ensure public safety. All agencies will be on the look out for impaired drivers. Alcohol is not the only cause of impaired driving. Recreational or medicinal marijuana, and some over the counter drugs can impair driving.
