The 2023 Annual Crop and Livestock report has been released.

Imperial County Agricultural Commissioner Jolene Dessert presented the report to the County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

The annual report shows the estimated acreage, yield, and gross production value of agriculture commodities and livestock in the county.

Total gross production value for 2023 was 2.36% above last year at nearly $2.7 billion. Cattle remains the number one commodity in Imperial County for the 66th year in a row. The top ten crops in the county include alfalfa, leaf lettuce, head lettuce, spinach, onions, broccoli, Bermuda, carrots, and alfalfa seed. According to the report, Imperial County remains the sole producer of sugar beets in California. Increases in value were seen in cattle, fruit and nut crops, vegetable and melon crops and seed crops.
