Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District (PMHD) has filed an injunction in order to prevent the dissolution of the District.

AB918 requires that PMHD be dissolved and ownership of Pioneers Memorial Hospital be transferred to the Imperial Valley Healthcare District (IVHD). In the injunction, PMHD seeks to halt the implementation of AB918 until a thorough examination of the law's implications and constitutionality can be conducted. The District also looks to ensure that the decision on wether to dissolve the District or not, be decided by voters. PMHD claims that AB918 represents a significant overreach that takes away the rights granted to voters under existing law. The request for inductive relief was filed in Superior Court.
