A Sunday morning traffic accident knocked out power to an area in Southwest El Centro.

The accident, at 23rd and Ross, at about 7:15 a.m., damaged a utility pole and knocked out power to over 600 nearby residents. Many of the affected homes experienced intermittent power outages while reapirs were made by IID crews but slightly more than 100 residents were expected to be with out power through the afternoon.The driver of the vehicle was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident.
