(25 year old suffers fatal injuries)...It happened Monday evening.

The victim, a Salton City resident, was driving his vehicle south on Martin Road, north of Highway 86/Highway 78 near Westmorland. For undetermined reasons, the 25 year old drove his vehicle into the passing trailer of a semi heading in the opposite direction. The vehicle caught fire, with the driver inside. The County Coroner's Office said the fire was confined to the engine compartment. They say the man died as a result of injuries suffered in the incident. The California Highway Patrol says the investigation is on-going.
