U.S.Border Patrol agents found approximately $83,000 worth of methamphetamine after a traffic stop.
At about 11:45 p.m. on July 25, Border Patrol agents stopped a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Indio. A Border Patrol K-9 Team alerted to the vehicle and a search led to the discovery of slightly over 50 pounds of meth hidden in the quarter panels of the vehicle. The woman driving the vehicle was accompanied by her child. The woman was arrested and the chid was turned over to their grandfather. El Centro Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino said, " A child and 50 pounds of methamphetamine, a sure sign of smuggler depravity. Similar to smugglers who left a mother to die in the desert with her young daughter last week, this week's drug smuggling caper highlights the detestable tactics smugglers use to ply their trade".
