(Independence Day is a 4 day holiday for many).....It is also a holiday with community celebration.

The Holiday features all kinds of events, culminating with a Fireworks display on July 4th. This year there are a few 4th of July Fireworks celebrations, all within driving distance. They actually start on July 3rd. The Acorn Casino is hosting a Fireworks Spectacular and Summer Fest, starting at 5 pm on July 3rd. The Casino is located in the East San Diego County mountains. On July 4th, Calipatria will be hosting a Fireworks Spectacular at Rademacher Park. There will be several events including a Firemen's Water Polo Match, Hot Dog and Ice Cream eating contests, vendors and more, all leading to the Fireworks Show at 9 pm. Also on the 4th of July Yuma will feature their Fireworks Spectacular at Desert Sun Stadium. Gates open at 6 pm with the Fireworks Show at 9 pm. Unfortunately, the annual July 3rd Fire Works display at the Gran Plaza in Calexico has been canceled.
