Imperial County Fire Department responded to a tractor-trailer burning.

At 11:00 a.m. Monday, the California Highway patrol reported a big rig burning on Highway 86 at the junction with Highway 78. The fire destroyed the tractor and caused significant damage to the trailer. The smoke from the fire caused the northbound lanes of Highway 86 to closed while firefighters battled the blaze and a brush fire that started because of the fire. One lane of the highway was closed a bit later for clean-up of the debris and repairs to the roadway that was damaged by the fire.
