A Tuesday morning accident shut down State Route 78 for several hours.
Shortly before 8:00 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on eastbound Highway 78 just east of Pole Line Road. Initially it was reported that one of the tires on a big rig was on fire but that quickly turned into the entire vehicle being fully engulfed in flames. The fire necessitated that both directions of travel on the highway needed to be shut down for several hours. No injuries were reported.
