Imperial County Public Health Emergency Medical Services Agency and Law Enforcement are warning local residents about the dangers of heatstroke. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, heatstroke is the number one killer of children, outside of car crashes. In an attempt to reduce the deaths, they are reminding parents and care givers about the dangers of heatstroke and leaving children in hot cars. They say as temperatures rise outside, the risks of children dying from being left alone inside a hot vehicle also rises.
