The Imperil Irrigation District has secured funding to invest in three key projects.
The IID has received $23.8 million in federal funds from FEMA's Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program. These funds will cover 70 percent of the total cost of the K sub-transmission line with the district funding the additional costs. The K sub-transmission line is crucial for maintaining a consistent power supply to the eastern Coachella Valley.
The Department of Energy recently announced that the IID has secured $1.2 million in federal money for the Mecca/North Shore Energy Infrastructure Project that will be matched by IID money. The project will enhance service reliability in Mecca and North Shore.
additionally, IID has allocated $3.9 million to acquire two shipping container-sized portable generators that can be deployed during extreme weather and natural disasters.
